Hi! Today was our very last day, I can't believe its over already! It went by really quickly. I'm super excited for summer but I had a great time at Kualoa Ranch. I am considering coming back as an intern next year! Today we continued working on the mud mounds, we worked on the middle mound for a long time till we realized all the mud we were getting on there was sinking back to the bottom and was useless. So we focused on the the last row. We continued getting compacted mud pieces from the very bottom of the lo'i, And that worked for most of the mound, but then when we smoothed everything out it was uneven, parts of it needed to be wider and in the middle it was very soupy so it wasn't very straight either. We couldn't finish so we went to lunch after that. Since today was our last day Anthony payed for our lunch! We all got something from the café in the visitor center of Kualoa ranch. And Ellé gave us a show on the ukulele, as well as Nalani played some songs. They both are amazing at the ukulele and singing. We had a long lunch but it was fun!! After, we had just enough time to plant some of the kalo we picked our second day here! It was cool, we got to see the process of stomping the mud, picking the kalo, making the mounds, adding newspaper and coconut tree leaves, then replanting the stem of the kalo! We got to see the full circle. And me, Elle and Libby all got neck deep in the mud, it was our last day so we didn't care. We got so muddy but we rinsed in the ocean, then the showers and changed clothes. We then had to say goodbye to everyone, so sad.
I had a great two and a-half weeks at Kualoa Ranch. I think our presentation will be really cool with all the interactive ideas we have, especially me and Ellies meat tasting idea. I'm so grateful for the opportunities we got to experience working here and I am so grateful for all the workers who took us on and showed us what their jobs are like, I know we might have not been perfect all the time but I am glad we got to help out, and I hope it made their work a little easier. Also, thank you too Mrs. Peeler for being the BEST NPCS supervisor, always bringing snacks, helping us out, and helping coordinate with the workers to make sure everything was in place! I'll miss you next year.. I can't wait to see where I'll be working next year!! Goodbye!
